In the Old Testament times before the advent of the kings of Israel, God instituted a governmental system utilizing judges. The judges didn’t rule. When people had problems, the judges simply taught the people how to solve their problems instituting God’s Word on the matter. But God’s people rejected that form of government. They didn’t like having to conform to Father’s Word. They longed to have a man-king rule over them to solve all of their problems with strictly political solutions, just like the surrounding heathen nations. In other words, they wanted to be like the rest of the world. And God let them. But not before warning them how it would turn out…
